A & B: Late Summer Engagement Photos at Saguaro Lake in Arizona

There’s something especially meaningful about getting to photograph a couple whose story already feels connected to mine in a small way.

I first met A & B when I photographed B’s sister’s wedding, so when they reached out about having me document their own wedding in 2027, it felt incredibly special. Being invited back into a family for another celebration is something I’ll never take for granted.

For their engagement session, we headed out to Butcher Jones at Saguaro Lake—one of those Arizona locations that can look completely different depending on the season. We started in a field that was beautifully green, with the evening sun coming through warm and golden. It was the kind of light you hope for when planning a late-summer session in the desert.

Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of the wedding experience. There’s no timeline to keep up with and nowhere else you need to be. It’s a chance to spend time together, get comfortable in front of my camera, and create photographs that feel like this particular season of your life—not just a practice run for the wedding day.

From there, we made our way toward the lake as the sun dropped lower. The combination of the water, desert landscape, and softer evening light gave us an entirely different feel without ever leaving Butcher Jones.

Getting to photograph A & B at Saguaro Lake made me even more excited for what’s ahead. I already can’t wait to be there when they get married in 2027—and getting to document another chapter for a family I’ve photographed before makes it that much sweeter.
