C & H: Engagement Portraits at Sunset Point in Phoenix, Arizona
This session feels like the perfect kind of story to tell because it started long before there was ever an engagement session on the calendar.
A few years ago, I noticed these two watching the sunset together. There was something about the way they existed in that moment—completely present, completely at ease—that caught my attention. I walked over, introduced myself, and asked if I could take a few photos. What started as a spontaneous encounter turned into a handful of images that captured a season of their story.
Fast forward a few years, and they reached out —this time officially engaged and wanting to document the next chapter.
For their engagement session, we went to the open hills and golden grasslands of Sunset Point. It felt like the perfect setting to celebrate this season of anticipation.
What I loved most about this session wasn't the scenery, though. It was seeing how little had changed between them. The same ease. The same comfort. The same feeling that made me stop and introduce myself years ago.
As the sun dipped lower and the hills softened into muted gold, we spent the evening walking, talking, and documenting the moments in between. The result was a collection of images that feels true to who they are right now: relaxed, connected, and excited for what's ahead.
Engagement sessions often become less about the photos and more about creating space to slow down together. Between wedding planning, work, and everyday life, it's rare to spend an evening focused on nothing except being present with the person you love. That's what made this session feel so meaningful.
This session included a roll of film. Film has a way of rendering a moment that feels both nostalgic and timeless. The grain, color, and subtle imperfections add depth and character, creating images that feel honest, tangible, and deeply connected to the moment they were made.
Whether you're celebrating an engagement, anniversary, or simply this season of life, I'd love to help you preserve it. Inquire to start the conversation.
